Cochlear is proud to partner with Songs for Sound, a non-profit organization that was established by a mother who wanted to raise awareness of cochlear implant technology once her daughter was able to experience the miracle of cochlear implants. When Jaime Vernon and her husband found out that their daughter, Lexi, was profoundly deaf at age 14 months, they felt alone and scared. Then, they found hope through cochlear implant technology.
Jaime wanted to pay it forward and help others understand that there is technology that exists that can help those (especially children) who are diagnosed with severe to profound hearing loss. Her mission has been to bring awareness of cochlear implant technology to others, through music. As Jaime states, “Lexi’s story was given to us to tell the world about her miracle ears, so all deaf children can have a chance at a normal hearing life and a mainstream life including using spoken language.”
